Spirituality in John Greenleaf Whittiers The Worship of Nature :: Whittier Worship of Nature Essays
Spirituality in John Greenleaf Whittier's The Worship of Nature If man ever said that he could not experience God outside of the walls of a church, it is evident that he never read John Greenleaf Whittier. John Greenleaf Whittier was a Quaker who, like all Quakers, placed an emphasis on a simple life. Quakers believe in leading a life without artificial things. Because of his Quaker beliefs, he had a deep understanding of the spirituality of the natural world. In his poem, The Worship of Nature Whittier takes his readers on a spiritual journey through a world untouched by man. The title of the poem is an indication that the reader should prepare himself or herself for some sort of spiritual experience. Whittier uses the word "worship" to title his poem because by the end of the poem the reader will learn that there is much more to the natural world than water, land, and sky. The poem starts with the birth or creation of nature. Whittier explains to his readers that the natural world has existed since God created it. He compares the creation of nature to music. This stanza is very appealing to the senses because nature is musical. The insects, winds, and birds are all a part of this "song" that "has never died away". The poet reminds readers of this very important idea because we as humans have a tendency to forget the value and importance of nature. The second stanza takes readers beyond the initial creation and introduces readers to the many purposes that nature serves. Whittier explains that "prayer is made and praise is given." Personification is an imp ortant tool used in this poem. Obviously nature cannot really pray or give praise, but the various functions of nature in this world give the illusion that it does pay homage to a higher being. For instance the lines in the second stanza, "The ocean looketh up to heaven, /And mirrors every star" says that the ocean is a mirror for heaven. If we look into the deep sea, we are in essence looking into a reflected image of heaven. Other instances when Whittier uses personification in this way are the first and second lines in the third stanza, "Its waves are kneeling on the strand/As kneels the human knee". Whittier tells his readers that just as man bends his knee to show respect to God so the ocean waves bend when they reach the shore as a sign of respect.

Goals: Goal and Long Term
Why are goals necessary in life? Goals are objectives set for one to achieve. They come in different types and different length of time. One can have a personal, academic or career goal along with long term or short term goals. There are many goals I would like to achieve. I have created my long term personal, academic and career goals. My long term personal goal I have set for myself is to stay connected to my parents and siblings. I also want to have a family of my own. My academic long term goal is to complete four years in college and obtain a masters or bachelors degree in Computer Analysis. My career long term goal is to get a job in Computer Analysis.. Who should be the most important people in your life? Your parents and siblings are the people that you should never forget. For my long term personal goal, I would like to keep a strong relationship with my family because they are the people who was there for me whenever I needed them. To keep a strong relationship, I believe I need to have an open communication with my parents. For instance, I would call them if I were to come home late or keep them informed of my whereabouts. I want a family of my own that I can provide for them with a good home and with a stable income.I believe to reach this goal I need a small step. I want to save money and keep some in a savings account that I can use later in life for my family. I believe to reach this goal I need a short term goal that I can concentrate on for a short period of time. I feel that I need to show my parents that I am a responsible person and that I can fulfill any responsibilities given to me. During this journey in reaching in this goal, we may come cross penny little arguments that may escalate into bigger problems but surely if I follow my game plan everything should be alright. Education should be the first thing in everyoneââ¬â¢s mind.Since I was a child, I had valued education very greatly. It has always been a big part in my life. For my lon g term academic goal, I want to complete my fours in college and proceed in my academic career. To maintain this goal, I would need to stay focus on my school work and keep up good grades. I would like to maintain a GPA of 3. 5 or higher. In order to complete this, I would have to do a lot of studying and dedicate most of my time into school. In the meantime, I would like to keep studying hard and concentrate in school. I would make school my number one priority or challenge. One challenge that can break this goal is procrastination. I tend to keep putting off some homework and leave it to do at the last minute. This will cause major problems and infer with my goals. But if I tackle my assignments early I know I can overcome that challenge. My long term career goal is something that can make my life better or worse. My long term career goal is to find a job that would give me a stable and comfortable life style. I would prefer a job to be along the lines in computers. If I want a dec ent job in the lines of computers, I would first need to find a temporary job that can help me get experienced. For example, I would look for a job like in Best Buy dealing with computers and helping customers fix their computers. I can also work in an office as a technician who fixes computers or any type of technology machines. The only challenge I foresee in the up coming years is the limited amount of computer related jobs. But I know if I follow each of my goals to my full ability I can overcome any obstacle laying in my way. I believe everyone should set goals because it helps you be organized and on track of what you would like to achieve.People can have different types of goals and even different time length of goal. The goals I have listed in this paper are personalized goals to help me benefit my life in an easier way. From keeping a good relationship with my family to graduating with a degree or even to getting a job along the lines of computers, I know I can follow each o f these goals and fulfill it without any obstacle getting in the way. Even if some goals were short term or long term, I feel that I can achieve these goals if I put my heart into it and work hard everyday.

In this paper, using the method of questionnaires solve the problem about burnout of the courier in logistics company in China. We hope can find factors to make contribute to further research in the future.Key words: burnout, courier, logistics com pany, China l. Introduction 1. 1 Research Background of Burnout and logistics company The relationship that people have with their work, and the difficulties that can arise when that relationship goes awry, have been long recognized as a significant phenomenon of the modern age. The use of the term burnout for this phenomenon began to appear with some regularity in the sass in the United States, especially among people working in the human services. This popular usage was presaged by Green's 1961 novel, A Burnout Case, in which a spiritually tormented and disillusioned architect quits his Job and withdraws into the African Jungle. Even earlier writing, both fictional and nonfunctional, described similar phenomena, including extreme fatigue and the loss of idealism and passion for one's Job. What is noteworthy is that the importance of burnout as a social problem was identified by both practitioners and social commentators long before it became a focus of systematic study by researche rs.Logistics is to satisfy customer needs, with the lowest cost, through the transport, storage, distribution and so on, to achieve raw materials, semi-finished products, finished products and related information from the origin of goods to the goods consumption to the planning, implementation and management of the whole process. Logistics is a system of control of raw materials, manufactured goods, finished goods and information, from the supply, the transfer of a variety of intermediate links and have to reach the physical movement of the final consumers, in order to achieve the organization's goals.Modern logistics is the product of economic globalization, economic globalization is an important service. The world of modern logistics industry grows steadily, Europe, Japan, America become important base logistics worldwide. 1. 2 The existing problems and the purpose of this paper In China, logistics industry started relatively late, with the rapid development of he national economy, the logistics industry market demand continued to expand.Since twenty-first Century, the state to strengthen and improve macroeconomic regulation and control policy, China logistics industry to maintain rapid growth, constantly improve the logistics system, industry increasingly mature and norms. The development of the logistics company to create many Jobs, special courier. However, the courier is prone to burnout, with facing to overload workload, such as sending 50 parcels on average everyday, Guessing logistics and waiting for customers. Especially n the discount season, for the logistics company is a war, the courier will face a severe test. Many express company clerks said, working overload to make them terribly fatigued, lead to service attitude decline or reject business is failing express industry. The aim of this research is to find what factors lead to courier appears occupation burnout and what are the solutions. 1. 3 Research Question (1) Is there any burnout in the cour ier in logistics company in China? If so, how often? (2) What are the major factors which contribute to their burnout? II . Literature Review 2. 1 Concept of BurnoutBurnout was initially a very slippery concept ââ¬â there was no standard definition of it, although there was a wide variety of opinions about what it was and what could be done about it. Different people used the term to mean very different things, so there was not always a basis for constructive communication about the problem and solutions for it. However, there was actually an underlying consensus about three core dimensions of the burnout experience, and subsequent research on this issue led to the development of a multidimensional theory of burnout (Miasmal 1982, 1998).This theoretical framework continues to be the predominant one in the runt field. Today, the most commonly accepted definition of burnout is the three- component conceptualization used by Miasmal and colleagues (Miasmal, 1982; Miasmal & Jackson, 1981; Pines & Miasmal, 1980). One component of burnout, emotional exhaustion, is characterized by a lack of energy and a feeling that one's emotional resources are used up. Another component, diversification or demutualization, is marked by the treatment of clients as objects rather than people. The final component of burnout, diminished personal accomplishment, is characterized by a tendency to evaluate oneself negatively. 2. 2 Assessment of Burnout In the sass the work on burnout shifted to more systematic empirical research. A particular focus of this research was the assessment of burnout, and several different measures were developed. The scale that has had the strongest psychometric properties and continues to be used most widely by researchers is the Miasmal Burnout Inventory (MBA) developed by Miasmal and Jackson (1981).Subsequent research using the MBA has revealed that the intensity and frequency dimensions of burnout are highly correlated (Anderson & Knick, 1984; Brooking, Bolton, Brown, & McElroy, 1985; Gaines & Jerkier, 1983), so the revised version of the MBA (Miasmal & Jackson, 1986) includes only the frequency dimension. The MBA- Human Services Survey (MBA-HAS) was designed for use with people working in the human services and health care. A second version was developed for use by people working in educational settings (the MBA-Educators Survey, or MBA-SEES).In both the HAS and SEES forms, the labels for the three dimensions reflected the focus on occupations where workers interacted extensively with other people (clients, patients, students, etc): emotional exhaustion, diversification, and reduced personal accomplishment. 2. 3 Major factors Burnout is an individual experience that is specific to the work context. Thus, the research over the past 35 years has maintained a consistent focus on the situational factors that are the prime correlates of this phenomenon. The results of this research paint a clear picture of the impact of the work situat ion on individual burnout. These situational Factors include Job characteristics, occupational characteristics, organizational characteristics. People do not simply respond to the work setting; rather, they bring unique qualities to the relationship. These personal factors include anemographic variables (such as age and formal education), enduring personality characteristics, and work-related attitudes. Several of these individual characteristics have been found to be related to burnout. However, these relationships are not as great in size as those for burnout and situational factors, which suggests that burnout is more of a social phenomenon than an individual one. 2. 4 Summary Burnout is a prolonged response to chronic emotional and interpersonal streamers on the Job, and is defined by the three dimensions of emotional exhaustion, diversification, and reduced personal accomplishment. With the sustainable velveteen of the economy make a spurt of progress of science and technology, people prefer to shop on the net, along with the rise of the logistics field. At the same time, faced with the grim work overload, the courier is easy to produce occupation burnout, which leads to the decline of quality of service phenomenon. The social focus of burnout, the solid research basis concerning the syndrome, and its specific ties to the work domain make a distinct and valuable contribution to people's health and well-being. Main body Business expansion beg ins by carrying out an analysis which explains whether there is need for expansion, advantages to be derived from the business expansion and also how consumers will benefit from the expansion, thereafter the current financial position of the business will be assessed to determine the actual increase in business as a result of the expansion. This will come along with costs related to the expansion like recruitment of more staff members, acquisition of new equipment and training staff members. A time frame has to be worked out for training or acquiring new staff and educating them about the goals and objectives of the new business. An analysis needs to be made to determine source of capital for expansion and this will begin by doing a budget on cash needs. If need be, capital can be raised for the expansion process and this will be via bank loan, or increasing share capital for shareholders and so they will have to inject more capital (Kotler Keller, 2008). While planning on the onli ne business, the company will carry out a visibility cost analysis, assess the staffing needs to carry out the web designing, maintaining and providing frequent press release, responding to consumer queries, receiving online orders dispatching products purchased and carrying out general administration for the new business.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Enough investment will be made for machinery which includes computers and laptops which will be used to provide consumer feedback. Proper advertising strategies will have to be put in place to help make consumers aware about the business expansion through various media. This can be done via television, radio adv ertising, preferred magazine pull outs, Google ad word adverts and also though social sites like face book, all this is aimed at increasing the web presence. After this analysis, a good business plan has to be drawn; it will give an account of the current business operations, expected operation after expansion, details of experience and qualifications of staff and also employment status. This will help consumers know more about the company profile so they can decide if they want to create a relationship with the business, also this will help the company to secure financing from banks (Kotler Keller, 2008). The product needs to be viable in order for it to satisfy consumer needs, since viability of the products is what provides a market outlook on the product, how it will be marketed, who the target market is, the purchase locations, and so this provides an analysis on the way consumers will perceive the product or service in terms of how this will satisfy their demands, and help in crease the possibility of using the product again. The company must present the product attractively online, give an account of all the benefits of using the product and this must be followed by a detailed account of the presence of that product for some time and it has been proven to be beneficial to consumers. For instance, if it is an insurance health product, the company should explain the channel of processing claims, how accidents will be reported, how payments will be made and time frame among other attributes which will make people consume the product. Before going online, the company will analyze the product using the BCG model where the product will be classified as a star, a cash cow, a problem child or a dog.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Business plan for creating online business expansion selling healthcare products and services specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Once proper analysis has been made, th e company will do a budget analysis to determine the extent of budgeting requirements. If the product is a star, more expenditure has to be incurred to ensure that there is wide market coverage for the product to make sure there will be a long period of consumer usage of the product but if a cash cow, modest expenditure should be incurred since the objective is to get as much revenue as possible from the product before phasing it out of the market. To carry out a proper online expansion, the company must identify potential competitors, which are companies offering similar products or services, after that an assessment will be done to determine the competitors strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. We will take into serious consideration the strengths and opportunities of the competitor, try to see where the competitor is doing very well and how that is made possible so that we can look for ways of making that our opportunity aimed at taking that market share. Online marke ting will help to attract more people to the website, increase customers and enhance brand loyalty, so we will begin by having a web promotion plan which will start with an effective web design and development strategy which must be appealing to consumers and in return will give us good search optimization techniques. Good online marketing goes hand in hand with an efficient email marketing tool where customers can be briefed about new productsââ¬â¢ features and any other information worth knowing. We will introduce reseller affiliate programs and associate programs all aimed at getting to refer more clients from the existing ones, build a responsive opt-in email list where consumers will communicate directly to us, publish online web releases, facilitate and run online contests and introduce a blog/online chart where the company staff charts directly with online clients and provide answers to their queries.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More In order for the company to reach a wide market for its online product sale strategy, we must optimize the online content, we have to ensure the information we have on the website is targeted to consumers, has the right words consumers will be looking for. We must have a clear hierarchy and text links, where every page will be easily accessed by one link, the information on every link should be useful, with a clear and accurate description of the content. We must limit flash files, portable document files and dynamic content since this will reduce our search optimization progress or we employ Meta tags to exclude such content from search engines to increase or ranking (Brigham Daves, 2004). Social media integration has to be put in place, it will be aimed at increasing web presence and takes the form of search engine optimization, allowing other companies to advertise on your site, carrying out email marketing, buy online media space and carry out frequent press releases which deta il the milestones the company is taking to ensure that it offers the best products in the market, and above all, offer the best design of the social sites placed strategically and prominently exposed. Online customer relationship management is the way the company manages its relationship with customers, clients and any other sales force by organizing, automating and synchronizing sales, marketing, customer service and technical support activities, all this aimed at ensuring customers get the satisfaction they deserve, the objective being to retain current customers, entice and acquire new ones, this will reduce marketing costs and customer service level agreement. We shall have dedicated staff who will answer customer questions in real-time, we shall work on an online agents offering live chart with customers, and this will help customers get immediate solutions to any immediate concerns (Eley Tilley, 2009). A proper and secure payment system should be in place which enables custom ers to pay online for products and services and delivery of the products must be real-time as per the information provided by the customer during time of purchase. The product must be tested to make sure quality is guaranteed so as to eliminate cases of customer complaints and consequent shipping back the product. Online business will reach the entire world at the click on the website link so the company must anticipate and expect to make sales to a very wide market, it should strategize to have feedback from potential areas away from home country where purchases are high and so it should plan to have a franchise operating there if this will be economical as opposed to sending the products from home country. The website should have a translation tool which will help customers not able to read English to translate the data to a language of their choice, and adequate measures should be put in place to accommodate different cultures for instance in terms of packaging, advertising might be restricted in certain ways in some cultures (Eley Tilley, 2009). Conclusion Basically, there must be a detailed plan for the expansion/growth of an online healthcare business, which gives the framework of operations, detailed account procedures to be followed and an outline of the expected benefits resulting from the expansion. This is what the company management will look at and assesses the possibility of having the business expanded and therefore try to increase sales though online advertising. The expansion should be carried out in stages since this will give the company room to introduce new online products, give employees time to study and understand the systems and be able to assist clients. An analysis stem cell research
An analysis stem cell research Do the benefits of using embryonic stem cells for medical and research purposes outweigh the disadvantages associated with loss of life? Problem: Embryonic stem cells result in loss of life Embryonic stem cells are unspecialised cells that have the ability under certain conditions to create any of the different types of tissue in early human growth and can renew themselves through cell division1. The ability of stem cells to specialise into over 220 types of cells in the adult human body is what interests scientists and provides potential to create a variety of clinical therapies to cure disease2. Embryonic stem cells are harvested from fertilised human embryos that have either been donated or have been created artificially in a laboratory. Embryos are created by in vitro fertilisation and donated for research with the donorââ¬â¢s consent2. The embryoblast, the inner cell mass, of the blastocyst is removed and is placed into a culture dish containing a controlled culture of nutri ents that allow the cells to divide and create stem cell lines that are managed and shared amongst researchers3. Fig. 1 ââ¬â A microphotograph of human embryonic stem cells4. Scientists are studying the use of stem cells in medical research to harness how they differentiate into specialised cells that make up the tissues of the human body2. Many diseases occur due to problems associated with cell differentiation so better knowledge about what happens in cells can help prevent these problems in the future2. In addition creating new tissues can help to repair damage caused by disease or the creation of new cells can assist patients who have deficiencies such as the inability to create insulin in the case of diabetes patients or have damaged or diseased organs. Such therapies could also reduce the demand on transplant organs and loss of life as many people die waiting for a transplant. Stem cell therapies hope to reduce morbidity for such people in the future. Stem cells are also u sed to test drugs before testing on live animals and humans2. In order to use embryonic stem cells, in researching and developing such therapies, a living human embryo, which would otherwise have the potential to develop into a baby in the right conditions, is destroyed by removing stem cells when it is about 4 to 6 days old. Destroying embryos in this manner has resulted in controversy over the sanctity of human life versus the potential to treat a number of human diseases. The sanctity of human life in arguments about embryonic stem cell research follows similar rationale to those that oppose abortion. Various religious groups see life as sacrosanct and hold that life is precious and the harvesting of embryonic stem cells and the resulting destruction of the embryo brings life to an end albeit to a collection of cells with potential to develop into a person4. Research using embryonic stem cells is still fairly recent. A few clinical trials are currently underway that are investiga ting the safety of the use of the techniques and stem cells in restoring spinal cord function and others in retinal stem cells being used to treat eye disease2.
